Street Soccer

Established in 2017, Portland’s Street Soccer USA chapter uses the power of soccer to help Portland’s homeless, refugee and underserved communities discover their strengths, take positive steps forward in their lives and connect to social service agencies.

The program provides an alternative to pay-to-play soccer teams incorporating an evidence-based life skills curriculum focused on communication, creativity, collaboration, self-confidence, independence and mutual respect, ultimately leading to improved educational and employment outcomes. The Oregon Sports Authority Foundation supports over 100 refugee, immigrant and newcomer youth and their families in East Portland and Southwest Portland, partnering with Street Soccer USA – Portland’s youth program.
