The Oregon Gran Fondo
Join cyclists from all over the Pacific Northwest for the Oregon Gran Fondo, Italian for “Big Ride”. Gran Fondo rides originated in Italy and France so the general public could have a chance to ride with professionals for a stage on the grand tours. A Gran Fondo is therefore not wholly a race, but a mass start event for the community.
The 42 mile Piccolo goes north to Creswell and loops through the countryside, the 71 mile Medio extends farther west of Cottage Grove, the 117 mile Gran takes riders through the Siuslaw River and Smith River Watersheds and the 137 mile Sherman route rides along a portion of each of the others. The Sherman route starts at 6:30 a.m., the Piccolo at 8:20 a.m. and the Gran and Medio at 8:30 a.m.
