Jim became Oregon Sports Authority CEO on January 1, 2018. A native Oregonian, University of Portland graduate and the founder of ETZEL Agency, Jim brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in sports and event marketing and management. Jim has a proven track record of winning major-league event business and cultivating fruitful partnerships with diverse organizations and properties like ESPN, the College Football Playoff and Major League Soccer.
Meyer has been with the Oregon Sports Authority since 1999, and is responsible for event/franchise recruitment and event management, as well as the development of youth and community programs. A native of Knappa on Oregon’s north coast, Meyer has a sport management degree from the University of Massachusetts and earned an MBA from Willamette University.
Director of Marketing and Events
Maika Janat-Vennemann joined the Oregon Sports Authority in March 2019 to serve in the newly created role of Director of Marketing and Events. Maika oversees the organization’s marketing and branding initiatives, as well as the management of owned events. Prior to joining the Oregon Sports Authority, Maika excelled in multiple roles over a 13-year career with global event production company satis&fy, ascending to President of the company’s North America office.
Program Manager, External Relations
Lauren joined the Oregon Sports Authority in February 2017, following roles with the Washington State Senate and Simplex Aerospace. She manages industry and government partnerships and provides support to community impact programs, with a focus on marketing, promotions and sponsorship. Lauren is a Portland native, and graduate of Cleveland High School and Whitman College, where she was a member of the cross country team.
Program Manager, Events and Community Impact
Alex joined the Oregon Sports Authority in February 2017, following a position with Metropolitan Family Service. She manages the TrackTown Youth League, as well as other youth program partnerships, and also leads event management and marketing for the Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon. Alex is originally from North Bend, Washington, and is a graduate of Southern Oregon University, where she was a member of the track and field and cross country teams.
Marketing and Events Coordinator
Kate joined the Oregon Sports Authority as an intern in March 2017 and was hired as Marketing and Events Coordinator in July. She is responsible for the organization’s membership and marketing activities, and also provides extensive event management and marketing support. Kate is a graduate of Barlow High School in Gresham and Syracuse University, where she served as president of the university’s running club.
