World Cup viewing party for USA-England set for Saturday

This Saturday the Oregon Sports Authority, Portland Timbers, TAOW Modern Marketing and Alpha Broadcasting will host “Soccer City Celebration” presented by McDonald’s, featuring the USA-England World Cup match broadcast live on a 12′ x 17′ LED screen at Director Park in downtown Portland. The event is free to attend; a beer garden will add to the festivities and the current weather forecast for Saturday is sunny with a high of 82 degrees.

Adding to the excitement, the Portland Timbers will unveil the team’s new crest at halftime of the match on Saturday. The new logo symbolizes the Timbers ascent to Major League Soccer in 2011, proudly signifying Portland’s deserved place in top-flight soccer in the United States. New Timbers logo apparel from adidas will be available for purchase at Director Park immediately after the unveiling of the team’s new crest.

“Soccer City Celebration” also features several other viewing parties at area bars throughout the World Cup, and will culminate with the World Cup final shown live on a giant LED screen at Pioneer Square on Sunday, July 11. Visit portlandsoccer2010.com for the full schedule.
