World-class throw center ready for unveiling
Construction is complete on the Concordia University Throw Center — the first non-Olympic track and field facility devoted entirely to throwing events.
It will be unveiled on July 2, an off-day during the U.S. Olympic trials in Eugene.
Concordia will offer buses for media from Eugene to the opening, which will include a demonstration of the facility and a speech by Concordia throws coach Mac Wilkins, a 1976 Olympic gold medalist, two-year world-record holder in the discus and member of the U.S. Track and Field Hall of Fame.
