Portland selected to host 2016 IAAF World Indoor Track & Field Championships

    We are thrilled to report a major event announcement this morning: the IAAF voted unanimously today to award the World Indoor Track & Field Championships to Portland in March 2016. A delegation led by USA Track & Field and TrackTown USA presented Portland’s bid to the IAAF Council this morning, including presentations by TrackTown USA President Vin Lananna, Oregon Sports Authority board Vice-President Doug Obletz and Gail Shibley, Chief of Staff for Portland Mayor Charlie Hales. Today’s announcement represents a monumental victory for sports in our state and we extend our congratulations to all involved!
