Snow Beach Festival & Pond Skimming Contest

Kick off spring break at Mt. Hood at the annual Snow Beach Festival featuring a full day of fun events for participants and spectators. The highlight of the day is the very and entertaining 11th annual Pond Skimming contest where contestants attempt to skim across a freezing cold pond. Points are awarded for costume and style. Clearing the icy water is not a requirement to win. Skiers and boarders of all ages compete. Last year, the youngest to attempt it was 8; his grandpa, at 62 was the oldest. Watch from the splash zone or at the slope-side Suds on the Slope Beer & Spirits tasting garden nearby. There’s also the Goggle Tan Rail Jam, a hot dog eating contest, BBQ, live music, and visits from Skibowl mascots Snow Bunny, Deerie and Frosty. The Snow Beach Festival has all the ingredients for an exciting, family-friendly Spring Break event.

To participate in any of the pond skim, rail jam or hot dog eating contest, just register on site in guest services 30 minutes prior to each event.

24th Annual Ski for Sunshine

Skiers and riders can get a free all day lift ticket by donating eight cans of non-perishable food to the Portland Police Bureau Sunshine Division

The Portland Police Sunshine Division and Skibowl have partnered since 1988. In that time, Skibowl has collected more than 60,000 pounds of food for people and families in need.

It’s a tremendous tradition of giving and we are happy to invite you to come up again to support this important charity.

Bring peanut butter, chili, soups, canned meats, fruits and vegetables to fill the Sunshine Division truck that will be parked in the Skibowl lot. A contribution of eight items will qualify for a free, all-day, lift ticket, valid from 9:00am to 4:00pm, a $49 value.

4-F Rail Jam

The second in Skibowl’s 4-F Rail Jam Series is February 10. 4-F stands for Fan Favorite Feature Friday, where riders can submit their ideas for features they would like to see. The Terrain Park crew incorporates those requests into the design of the course, because, as McDonald puts it, “Riders know what they like and we want to give it to them.” Open registration for the 4-F Rail Jams is from 3-5 p.m. the day of the event, with the competition from 5-7 pm and awards presented in the Beer Stube at 7:30 pm.

Special Olympics Oregon Winter Games | Basketball & Powerlifting

Winter Regional Games for indoor sports are competitions held around the state in the sports of basketball and powerlifting for Special Olympics athletes in Oregon. All participants have trained in their hometowns for several weeks prior to these competitions.

The Elite Camp will be conducted by head coaches Bill Irwin and Garrett Smith. The coaching sessions will be designed by the Portland coaching staff to challenge players with advanced technical and tactical components of the game. The objective of this camp is to train in a highly competitive environment and make the most of your camp experience. Each camper can proceed at his own level of development. If you want to test yourself against the best then this camp is for you. Open to ages 13-17.
