eUpdate – Winter Triathlon, New Members and USA Cyclo-Cross Bid
The Oregon Sports Authority is pleased to announce the USA Winter Triathlon National Championship will return to Mt. Bachelor on Sunday, January 11, 2009. The national championship features a run, mountain bike portion and a Nordic ski leg, all on snow. With no pre-qualifying races, all athletes are encouraged to participate in winter triathlon’s premier event. USA Triathlon is offering a $3,000 cash purse to age group and overall winners. The top three male and female American finishers will earn a spot in the Elite World Winter Triathlon Championship in Austria in February.
The USAT Winter Nationals is one of several events the Oregon Sports Authority has helped bring to the Bend area since launching its Central Oregon chapter just one year ago. Other Oregon Sports Authority events include the ABA/BMX Great Northwest Nationals and the recent XTERRA Trail Running National Championship, both of which will return in 2009.
Mark your calendars now for the Winter Triathlon National Championship on January 11 – registration for individuals and team entries begins November 15!
