eUpdate – Oregon Olympians shine in Rio, WinCo Foods Portland Open, Urban Clash

    A remarkable 55 Olympians with ties to Oregon participated in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, highlighted by a multitude of exhilarating medal-winning performances.  Portland resident and Oregon grad Matthew Centrowitz shocked the world by taking home gold in the men’s 1,500-meter race, the first U.S. runner to do so since 1908.  Oregon native Ashton Eaton earned his second consecutive gold medal in the decathlon, once again cementing his title as the world’s greatest athlete, while his wife Brianne Theisen-Eaton won bronze in the heptathlon.
