
eUpdate – March Madness, City Backs MLS Bid, BMX Nationals
The first round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship tips off Thursday at the Rose Garden, officially marking the end of the tournament’s 34-year absence from Portland and 26-year absence from the state of Oregon. The excitement began yesterday as the teams competing in Portland were announced. Gonzaga and the University of Washington headline the group, along with Big Ten stalwarts Purdue and Illinois, while upset-minded Western Kentucky, Mississippi State, Northern Iowa and Akron look to become the Cinderella story of 2009.
