City of Portland Triathlon
Local athletes dominated in the first-ever Oregon Trout City of Portland Triathlon in downtown Portland on Sunday, September 2, 2007. More than three hundred athletes from as far away as New York and Florida entered the race, held to showcase the city of Portland’s downtown as a triathlon venue – and to raise awareness of the need to clean up Oregon’s waterways.
In the men’s race, first place went to Grant Folske of Beaverton, OR, who finished with a time of 2:08:58.76. Dan Litwora (Chicago, IL: 2:13:16.75) and David Ciaverella (Portland, OR: 2:15:03.60) were second and third, respectively.
In the women’s race, Sheri Lehmer of Bend, OR finished first with a time of 2:26:21.54. Ann Ciaverella (Portland, OR: 2:28:24.00) and Elisa Lee (Chicago, IL: 2:30:05.76) finished second and third in what race director Jeff Henderson described as “a very tight race.”
