3,000 walk, run and bike at LiveStrong Challenge

    Lucas Martens, 3, was hot Sunday after walking 5 kilometers with his mom, Carolyn Martens, at the LiveStrong Challenge.

    “Mom poured water on my head,” Lucas said, smiling and wiping his head after crossing the finish line at Nike’s World Headquarters in the Beaverton area.

    But the little Portlander never thought about quitting the annual fundraiser for cancer awareness and research. He ran about half of the course and kept his mother going, she said.
