More than 1,000 handball players from Ireland, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, England, the Basque Region of Spain and the United States will play for world crowns in 4-wall and 1-wall events throughout the week. Men and women, youths and masters players up to age 85 will compete in singles and doubles divisions. The United States hosts the World Championships only once every decade, and Portland’s host committee, the Multnomah Athletic Club, and the United States Handball Association have been working since 2005 on the best event in the history of the sport.
